Malaysian Trumpet Snails

The Malaysian Trumpet Snail is a great fresh water snail to have in you aquarium. They are natural janitors and will clean your substrate of dead matter
(fish, plants and will even eat your fish pooh). They come in several colors brown, dark brown to black, mine are all brown. Another cool thing about them
is that they give birth to live young. To the novice, these snails are a pest in their aquarium since they tend to over breed, but these snails actually
control their own population. They will not breed if there is not enough to eat so the trick is, feed them less and just let them be janitors in your aquarium
and you will love them. These snails will not eat your plants except the dead leaves and will also eat the algae off the leaves as well as the aquarium glass
The Malaysian Trumpet Snail is safe with all aquarium life and will co-exist peacefully with any fish that does not eat snails. They also make wonderfull
companions for all fresh water shrimps since they do not compete with the shrimps for food. These snails feeds on detritus and leftover food that is underneath
the substrate. It burrows in the substrate and moves them around which is good for your plants, since it keeps them aerated. You will rarely see them
during the day since they are nocturnal. If you see several of them on your aquarium glass during the day then you may have serious water quality problems.
I highly recommend this snail to anyone looking for a natural way to keep their substrate clean. They are very cool to look at with their flat heads, extremely
docile, do not eat plants, aerate substrate, eat detritus and do not harm other aquarium inhabitants.
